Second Library Show.

Okay, I hung most of the pieces on Saturday. I will post pictures later. I was going to do a series of watercolors of multi-color reptiles, but I lost my footing today and ended up doing a self-portrait... Then I repeated it in a quilt. I took another turn and am going to use the quilt as my entry for the Alzhiemer Quilt Fundraiser.

Artist Statement

I believe that art is part of human nature --- Even the earliest humans had the need to express themselves. The desire to tell a story, express a feeling or make something where there once was nothing is innate in us all.

Art has always been part of my life. My interest in art and sewing started when I was very young. I got my first sewing machine at the age of six, and began sewing clothing & quilts for my Barbie Dolls and myself. I taught myself to knit at ten... And thus an artist was born.

Although I consider myself mainly an Art Quilter and Fiber Artists, I work in many different media --- painting, watercolors, drawing, pastels, jewelry, knitting, mixed-media and other art forms. All of these endeavors feed my love of art quilting and fiber work.

Color, shape and design are what I focus on in each piece. With each piece want to convey my feelings. My work starts with a general idea or theme but progresses intuitively. I often feel that my pieces are incomplete, as I am never satisfied with the end result. Often I continue to work on a piece even after “completion.”

Over the years I have realized that I am more process oriented than product oriented. I have found that I love to learning a new technique, process or tool. My art is always a process of discovery.
